I'll do it soon.

First of all, I love this photo by Pia Ulin.

Secondly, yes, Rudy and I have moved into our new home. But no, I'm not ready to put up any pictures. In a new place, I tend to have grand intentions but no means to actually make them real. I've been saving my tips from the coffee shop for the last few months, trying to come up with some sort of a decorating budget. I've got a bit saved up, and as long as I'm (very) savvy, I think I can make some things happen with this new place.

I'll try to document the process as I go so you can follow along. I just wish the closest Ikea wasn't in Cincinnati!

Kittens.

I couldn't keep these beautiful photos from Korean Vogue to myself.

Fact about me: I hate cats but think that kittens are quite possibly the cutest little things ever, (topping even puppies, that's right I said it).

Tack this onto my last post.

I can completely relate to this post on my polaroid blog, (no, not my polaroid blog, but her polariod blog)

Superga Shoes.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend, designer Jeremy Slagle, called me up and said he needed a model for a catalog he was working on for an Italian shoe company called Superga. So I squeezed my 10 to 11 sized foot into a size 9 and he took some shots. As you can see, he's just as talented behind the camera as he is with a pencil and paper.

Just looking at the pictures sends a shiver up my spine. It was around 30 degrees when we were shooting. Chelsea+Skirt+30 degrees=Purple Legs. I'm glad that didn't come through in the finished product. Also, the photo of the shoes with a twin lense is shot on our wood floors.

The whole thing came out great and I'm happy to be a small part of a very awesome catalog.

Me at twelve.

Would you look at that blond hair!
I found this when I was cleaning out my gmail, and thought it should be shared. It's from one of my first photo shoots way back when.

Don't mind if I do.

I cleaned out my gmail inbox today (went from 776 e-mails down to 24, thank you very much!) and this was in an e-mail that Rudy forwarded to me when we were dating. I felt like I couldn't delete the thing without sharing it first. I love the way the cats are both on their hind legs. If I was a farmer, I would totally do this.

Just wanted to say hello.

Alicia Bock

Today has been crazy. I'm very grateful for the hot water I'm about to stand under, and the Belgian waffle I just ate.

This photo of balloons makes me very happy.

I need to start applying to Interior Design school. AHH!!!

Rudy and Gatsby are taking a nap on the sofa with the light from the Christmas tree twinkling, and the cold outside.

I love the way the ice crystals look over everything in the morning. Glitter everywhere.

Viewfinder pictures around the house.

Friday afternoon I decided to take some pictures through my twin lense camera around the house. Here are some of the results.

On Thanksgiving, I came across this assortment of threads in one of my grandma Tissy's drawers. She doesn't sew as much as she used to, and said I could have them! They look so pretty, I almost feel bad using them.

Snow.

The snow came this morning. It was every bit as magical as I imagined it. I sat on the porch with my tea and a blanket and watched it float peacefully and silently down.

It didn't stay long, just stuck to the grass for a while and then was gone. Such a beautiful morning for getting beautiful news from my best friend...

Poem and picture friday.

With a severed hand and light in my eyes
I'll sink into this feeling of safety.
Am I letting go
Or am I holding on?
Deep down I know what I want.
Everything in me screams rebellion against feeling soft.
It's amazing how fast the heart goes from stone to flesh,
And back again.
Not yet.
So much further to go.
Move away
Turns my stomach
Stings my fingers.

Dreamy Japan.

This post over at sfgirlbybay of Rob Spicer's dreamy polaroids of Japan has me wishing I could get on a plane right now.

Pretty pretty.

{How pretty is this kitchen?! I could just see it in my apartment in Paris}

While over at Desire to Inspire, I came across the photography of Joanna Henderson and I am floored. So much inspiration, I think my mind is going to explode.
I've been thinking a lot about lighting lately, and I think this lamp is my favorite of all time. Plus, wishbone chairs have always been my favorite:)

Wimpelkette

I thought I would start out today with some beautiful fotos from domestic candy
The whole blog is in german, but the pictures speak for themselves. Lots of pretty rooms, and she makes some very nice accessories. I especially love to VW bus cutting boards.

Missing home a bit.

It's not that Columbus isn't breathtakingly beautiful, it's just these photos from Alicia Bock. She says:
"I offer you some virtual waves to take a little break on. You can stay and float for awhile. The water's warm."
Thanks Alicia, I think I will.

A picture and poem friday.

your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for each other; then

laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph

And death i think is no parenthesis.

Polaroid, here I come! Well, kinda.

While perusing some weblogs, I came across a link to Rollip, a site that turns your oh so shiny and boring digital photographs into digital polaroids. How cool is that!? I must say that I do own a polaroid camera, and have used it many many times in the past. But geez! That film can get pretty expensive, especially when I have a perfectly good digital camera that takes hundreds of images for free (well, after you buy it, and mine was a gift, so there you go).

So here is my first try at using Rollip. I took a picture that my wonderful friend Sierra sent me of us in Portland, uploaded it to the site, and voila! A picture with some character!

Here is the original for comparison:

Try it here.
And oh yeah, it's FREE.

Goodbye old friends.

I decided to go through all of my old magazines and create a collection of tear sheets to use for inspiration boards. I think that the images are so much more useful outside of their bound magazine form. At the end of the day, here are what my categorized tear sheets look like. They are divided into many sections such as kitchen, bedroom, outdoor spaces and so on.

And here's one I took using the vintage camera that my brother in law, Cody, gave me. Just for fun:)

Slightly dangerous photography.

Today I decided to go exploring our new city with some cameras. It is pretty hard to find free parking around here, so I had no choice but to take the pictures while driving. Here are some of the results! Not too shabby for being on the move huh?

More photos from today can be seen on my flickr, (link is on the right side of the page).

Today I think I will go to Paris...

...and I will wear this dress.

If only that could be true.
But a girl can dream can't she?

Paris photos from Alicia Bock
